Terry Vance was born on November 26, 1953 in the United States. He is an American motorcycle racer who has won numerous championships in the AMA Superbike and AMA Grand National Championship series. He is also a former member of the Vance & Hines racing team. Vance began his racing career in the early 1970s, competing in motocross and flat track events. He won the AMA Grand National Championship in 1981 and 1982, and the AMA Superbike Championship in 1983 and 1984. He also won the Daytona 200 in 1983 and 1984. Vance retired from professional racing in the late 1980s and has since become a successful motorcycle tuner and engine builder. He is the co-founder of Vance & Hines, a company that produces aftermarket motorcycle exhaust systems. Vance is married to his wife, Debbie, and has two children. He currently resides in Southern California.

In 1972 Vance formed a partnership with Byron Hines and the two men began competing in drag racing competitions. In 1980, they founded Vance & Hines, a company developing exhaust systems as well as building and tuning motorcycles. As well as drag racing competitions, the company also entered teams into AMA road racing competitions, winning the 1990 Daytona 200 and the 1991 AMA Superbike championship. Vance was inducted into the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame in 1999.
