Born on 30 July 1946 in Blackpool, England, Hammond-Hammond was educated at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. He made his stage debut in 1968, and his first film appearance was in the 1971 film The Raging Moon. Hammond-Hammond has appeared in numerous films and television series over the years, including The Elephant Man, The French Lieutenant's Woman, The Madness of King George, The Avengers, The Professionals, and The Bill.
